Strega Photos

The book, as you know, is currently inside Strega. (In the main room too) I'll be bringing it a stand so it sits up tomorrow sometime. Til' then here are some photos of the work where it exists. I still encourage everyone to go see it.

Statement

There have been multiple statements for this project. One was written without sleep. One was written with a book object in mind. And this one was written with a web project in mind. They all contain roughly the same material, though this one embraces a more scholarly perspective on the work.

Book in Strega

The book is now officially located in Strega. Sorry that took all day. I have classes all day that prohibited me from getting down there. I hope everyone enjoys it.

The Photos

So here are some JPEG versions of the photos. I'm not sure how well they translate on different browsers and screens, so I highly recommend going to Strega and viewing the work itself, but if you can't here they are:

MYTH:
Wonderland

Werewolf

Vampire

Bridge Troll

Tree of Life

Paul Bunyon

Lake Monster

Genie

Fairy

Excalibur

Dragon

Death

Angel

Bogeyman

Lack of "Process"

So I apologize for the lack of a documentation of a "Process" here on the blog. I kept thinking about documenting the various ways I made my shots, but I felt that in a lot of ways that would detract from the work itself. So Instead I will be posting the photos, along with some photos of the actual book object. Check back later today for the photos from Strega, where this work will be displayed. Coming next is a post with the images, enjoy. I hope the screens I've been using are showing accurate lowlights...

Nights in the Lab

After many nights in the UNR Photo Lab I've almost completed the prints for the book. The book is ready to have images placed in it and I still need to find a couple of screws to affix the metal plate to the front of the book. I know all of this seems really sporadic. But that's all I can offer right now. Just a reshoot, and a couple shots to take tomorrow and this is pretty much a wrap. I'll be printing till my eyes can't take it well into Wednesday night (Thursday morning). I only hope everyone else isn't doing the same.

Stay tuned for production photos including sketches, and scanned notes.

Introduction

As a companion to my series of photographs titled "Myth" I have created this blog to chronicle the process and serve as a reference for the work itself. Please enjoy.
